Henry Meredith Hardy

I love skiing! I moved to the Alps in the late ’90s and have been here ever since. I worked my way through the qualifications holding the BASI Level 4 ISTD and the Swiss Brevet. I have worked as a BASI ski trainer since 2006, and am currently the trainers discipline representative.

I have also spent a lot of time skiing up hill in the last few years, and it’s one of those years again so in my spare time the chances are you will find me walking up!

In the summer

I like spending a bit more time with my family, getting out in the mountains and enjoying the life we have created here in Zermatt. I run a bit to try and stay fit, bike a little bit and then try and get on the water whenever I can. I love kiresurfing and windsurfing and recently did my Day Skipper and am keen to do more sailing.

I spend my work time updating the website, preparing Summit for the winter, doing some work for BASI and doing some photography.

My Zermatt insider tip is:
Ski the yellow runs, best runs in the resort and there’s no one on them.
If I wasn't a Summit instructor:

Hmmmm that’s a tough one, I think if I was starting again I would like to be a commercial photographer, or a helicopter pilot ha ha

3 reasons to ski with me:

1. I like skiing and ski technique, so whether you are looking to improve your technique or blast around the mountain finding the best snow and a good lunch then I’m keen!

2. I find the incessant need to flatten the mountain a little strange, so if you want to improve your bumps or variable snow skiing skills and enjoy the yellow runs and not have to worry about people flying around the pistes out of control then let me know.

3. I have a degree in Marine Biology, a Masters in Environmental Technology and also used to teach dinghy sailing and windsurfing, so we are bound to found something interesting to chat about on the chairlifts!
